ISO/TS 16949
This is an international norm and technical specification for the automotive industry that defines quality requirements of products within the different phases of development, such as conception, validation, production, etc... A certain number of quality tools or the different phases are required:
- APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning): quality planning during conception
- SPC (Statistical Process Control): Control statistics of process
- FMEA (Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis): Analyze potential failures and the effects of the initial criticity.
- MSA (Measurement System Analysis): analyze the systems of measurement R&R
- PPAP (Production Part Approval Process): Approval process of products
- ...
This technical specification can only be applicable with an ISO 9001 certification and can be certified by an independent entity.
The goal of ISO/TS 16949 is to encourage the further development of the fundamental systems of quality by emphasizing the prevention of defaults and the reductions of deviations and scrap in the supply chain.
